The country is currently fighting against the second wave of COVID-19. Amidst the battle against COVID-19, the emergence of a new type of infection named ‘black fungus’ is catching the notice of the authorities. Recently, it was reported that many states are declaring black fungus also known as mucormycosis under the Epidemic Act. On Friday, Milind Soman made a tweet reacting to the decision of various states declaring black fungus under the Epidemic Act. He expressed he is not convinced with the decision.

On Twitter, Milind Soman tweeted, “How can a disease supposedly caused by unhygienic humidifiers in hospitals be classified as an epidemic?” He raised questions on the classification of ‘black fungus’ as epidemic stating that the disease is caused by “unhygienic humidifiers”. Reacting to Soman’s tweet, netizens expressed mixed opinions. While a few on social media termed it as a ‘valid question’, others shared insight on what they read about ‘mucormycosis’. Netizens said that unhygienic humidifiers were not responsible for the disease. A few stated that the fungi were attacking the weak immune systems in COVID-19 affected patients and those.

Apart from this, Milind Soman recently recovered from COVID-19. The actor had tested positive and informed his fans about the same via a post on Instagram. Before the ICMR removed plasma therapy as one of the treatments for the Coronavirus, Milind also tried to donate plasma, however, he couldn’t do so.
